Our Most Recent Adventure

On August 16th of this year our third child was born.  Our oldest turned 10 on the 19th of August and the middle child will be 8 in November, so to say the least it's been a while since the baby years. You think you would have forgotten, but it comes back pretty quickly. The first few nights were interesting to say the least, she was great at nursing from the get go and slept quite a bit 3 sometimes 4 hours.  After we got home from the hospital was when the really interesting parts came into play as we had to adjust to having all 3 around and not just the baby.  Mealtimes were a challenge and I found the baby seemed to enjoy planning when she wanted to eat on top of when I was going to eat.  Lots of meals feeding baby or covered in tinfoil waiting for me when she was finished.  When she was 2 or 3 days old she would go 4 or 5hrs without waking to eat which I've been told is not a good thing for them.  When she was born she weighted 8lbs 2oz when we left the hospital she weighted 7lbs 15oz and when we went in for her 3 day check she was down even more to 7lbs 10oz so they requested we come the following Monday for a weight check.  Now keep in mind my milk hadn't come in yet and we were struggling to wake up the coma baby to feed her every 2 to 3hrs like the doctor recommended.  We stripped her down to the diaper, did a diaper change in the end we found she hated her feet messed with so we used that for a bit to keep her awake.  Now those of you that have children know there is always at least one out of control pooping episode that you want to close your eyes and pretend never happened once it's over.  For this one it occured at my Grandma's.  I so should have listened to my sweetheart when he said she wasn't done.  To summarize she got my pants, the couch soaked a couple of paper towels with her pee and crapped all over my hand.  That was a busy day and toward the end she decided she needed to nurse at every place we visited putting her nursing sessions about every half hour to an hour which is kind of a pain when you are trying to go around and visit people. That was the friday after she was born.  Saturday was our sons 10th birthday party and the day my family was coming to visit so yet again more people, more of the pass the baby game. At one point I felt like my head would explode I still had two cakes to frost and a cheese cake to make baby wanted to be held and my phone rang and than my Mom was texting me trying to figure out where we lived.  Talk about chaos.  Finally things calmed down my family arrived with no problems we ate and visited and enjoyed our evening and the next morning with them.  After they had left to return home my love and I sat on the couch and breathed looked and one another and hoped things would be a little less hectic for the next little bit.  Monday the 23rd baby went back in for her weight check she was up to 8lbs 3oz piggy baby likes to eat =).  Also after Sunday night we decided to move her bath time to 7pm instead of 8 or 9pm as we figured out she has about an hour and a half of wake time after her bath and than she crashes out for 3 to 4 hours. So that's what we've been doing since Tuesday night and it seems to be working at night she gets up usually twice.  Is in bed by 9pm up between 11:30pm and 12am once she goes back to sleep she is up again anywhere between 3am and 4 and than will wake up anytime between 6am and 8am.  Not too bad for being only 9 days old I don't think.  Yesterday was a nurse for 8 mins sleep for 45 to 90mins and than nurse again for 8mins.  I was afraid that she would do that all night but she surprised me by reverting back to her regular nursing schedule being kind enough for me to get some rest.

The older two started school today so around here today is quiet enjoying the next few days of simple quiet routine before another busy weekend.  Headed to Springfield/Chester area again on Saturday to make the rounds again and than the Fair on Sunday.  Will be nice to get out Sunday walk around and enjoy the outside weather and watch the older two enjoy all the joys of going to the Fair.

So for now that's been our most recent adventure, and boy has it been quite the ride.
